Mikael Engman’s diverse career began on the production line and continued through project engineering duties to mill projects and technical customer service. Engman has worked most of his career outside Finland. He is currently based in Singapore, where he focuses on countries such as Australia, India, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia. Most of his customers are tissue producers, but he also shares his pulp and produc- tion knowledge with printing paper producers and paper- board mills. One of the new customers is a paper and paperboard giant with production in China and Indonesia. The goal is to carry out a research and development project to determine how Metsä Fibre’s products can best be used with the cus- tomer’s short-fibre pulp.

Henry Guo’s office is in Shanghai and most of his customers operate in China. During the coronavirus pandemic, he has also provided online support to Japan. A pulp and paper machine expert who has been with Metsä Fibre for nearly a decade, makes pulp comparisons as well as production and conversion optimisation. He also helps cus- tomers with troubleshooting and production disturbances.

Tao Zhang, stationed in Shanghai, serves paperboard and paper industry customers in China and Taiwan. Since 2010, he has been working with customers on tasks such as pulp analyses, delivery optimisation, refining audits, as well as disturbance and fault resolution. •
